Why should I leave windows 7? How will I be able to do my homework using MS word/excel on a different OS?

First of all you don't have to completely abandon Windows if you don't want to just set up a dual-boot system: http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2011/02/17/how-to-dual-boot-debian-6-and-windows-7/

Second, there are alternative that will allow you to open/read and save into MS Office formats. OpenOffice.org is the most popular: http://www.openoffice.org/

i think in mac there is a patch on msword2010 and windows format program

Microsoft Office is also available for Mac. But IMO Office is best on a Windows machine. There are reasons to leave Windows, but Office programs are definitly not on that list!!
