Life of Pi: Journal entry? This journal entry should be a minimum of 200 words. A good journal entry will use the character’s voice, mention other characters and situations in the novel, and reveal an understanding of the character’s nature. Proper use of spelling and grammar are expected, except in cases where exceptions have been made deliberately, in keeping with the character chosen. Your responses should be approximately 1-3 sentences in length. I AM NOT ASKING YOU TO WRITE IT FOR ME, If u could give me an understanding of the characters, plot, setting,or anything else i would b gr

Life of Pi is a crappy book written by an unimaginative author who takes a very close-minded stance on religion at the end of it. /rant Ok, I'll try to be more neutral. Ultimately, the book asks the question "is it better to face the horrible truth or live a comfortable lie?" Pi Patel kinda builds this whole fiction around the very traumatic experience he has, and tells the fake story to the people interviewing him. They press him for details, he tells them the "true" version, and then basically asks "yeah, which version would you rather believe?" The end. You can get the TL;DR version toward the end of the book (Part Three), but I would suffer through it to the end if your teacher requires it. Skim the first parts, then read the interview section in detail and you'll see what I mean. Perhaps your journal entries could center around things which may have two types of "truth" to them. While I can't (in good conscience) advocate that you skip this piece of contemporary trash, it's certainly not a book I would ever make my students read. If I ever have any.
