Describe a function in terms of if the graph of g is obtained by reflecting the graph of f about the x-axis and if it is horizontally stretched by a factor of 3 when compared to the graph of f. where g(x) = A f(B x) + C A= __________________ B= __________________ C= __________________

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Well, if we're reflecting the function about the x axis, we're essentially making all values of the parent function negative. So, 'A' would be -1. A horizontal stretch would occur when the values inside the f(x) are made smaller for larger values of x given (like, we give x=1 and f(x) evaluates for 1/2 of that, its a smaller value than what the normal function has, so at x=2 we'll get the value for x=1 of f. if that doesn't make sense, i could try to elaborate a bit more, but im just explaining why its a stretch of the graph..). So, we would need a fractional value for B. It's a factor of three, so we need 1/3 for B. We aren't really given anything about C, so you could leave it 0.
