How does Kinetic Energy after and before collision not equal?
A large portion of the kinetic energy may be converted to other forms of energy such as sound energy and thermal energy it doesnt have to all turn back into kinetic.
Drop a book on the desk in front of you. Kinetic energy is not conserved. You can hear some of it turned into sound energy, for instance.
For kinetic energy to be conserved, the collision has to be what's called perfectly elastic. Those super-balls you might have had as a child were close to this ideal.
The collision is completely inelastic. Its a ball in the pendulum having fired by a ballistic.
An inelastic collision is a collision in which kinetic energy is not conserved.
thank you so much
It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity.as according to the definition when the body has started moving from its rest and accelerating then kinetic energy increases as soon as it comes in contact with some body in the opposite direction then first it de-accelerates and so simultaneously kinetic energy decreases so kinetic energy differs before and after the collision
