thank you havent had to use this in many many years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15/200 -x/125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cross multiply

OpenStudy (phi):

\[\frac{15 \text{ lbs}}{200 \text{ people}}=\frac{x \text{ lbs}}{125 \text{ people}}\] to find x, multiply both sides of the equation by 125: \[\frac{15 \text{ lbs}}{200 \cancel{\text{ people}}}\cdot 125 \cancel{\text{ people}}=\frac{x \text{ lbs}}{\cancel{125 \text{ people}}}\cdot \cancel{125 \text{ people}}\] this simplifies down to \[x \text{ lbs}= \frac{15\cdot 125}{200}\text{ lbs}= 9\frac{3}{8} \text{ lbs}\]
