Using APA format, I created a break after my title page and deleted the words 'Running head'. It also deleted it on the title page. When I replace it on the title page, it puts it back on the subsequent pages, what am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Go to your title page and double click your header. find the check box that says something like 'Different first page and make sure it's checked. Then retype 'running head'.
