What is the solution set of |2x + 4| < 10 I know how to find solution sets I'm just unsure of what the <10 means, could somebody please explain it

OpenStudy (ash2326):

<10 means less than 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it also means your answer will have one interval and not two

OpenStudy (ash2326):

which is due to the modulus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you should start with \[-10<2x+4<10\] and solve in two steps 1) subtract 4 all the way across 2) divide by 2 (all the way across)

Thank you :)
