What is the moment of inertia of a metallic bar of mass of M and dimensions l*b with respect to a axis passing normally to the plane of the bar through a corner point? Please help I need the expression to find the time period of a bar pendulum.

First, find the moment of inertia about the bar's center of mass. You can refer here for a list of moments of inertia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_moments_of_inertia After finding that, use the parallel axis theorem to find the total moment of inertia. \[I = \bar I + mr^2\]where m is the mass of the object and r is the distance between the axis of rotation and the axis through the center of mass.
