arnoldYu you could ask people in chat window of other groups to join your group, tell them about it. I'm sure they'd join and it won't be spamming:)

There is nothing wrong with promoting your group within the chats. As long as you don't abuse it you will be fine. By abuse I mean repeatedly posting in a short period of time. Just post a link to it or announce it in the chats you frequent once in a while. Pick the high traffic times so that your message gets across to the most people.
