OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the longest part of the cell cycle in the stages of mitosis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

S phase

OpenStudy (blues):

I disagree with Heena. I think it's G1, when the cell is growing and going about its normal function. DNA synthesis is a relatively very quick process.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i leanred that S is the longest phase mam..

OpenStudy (blues):

Or, if the question refers to the substages in mitosis (instead of the cell cycle in general), the answer is prophase.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i agree in that case but gen cell cycle then we say S phase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

prophase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

interphase is the longest stage.but,it does not considered mitotic phase as it happens before mitosis. So, prophase is the correct one.
