Does anyone know how to do this?? because i don't. ill upload a picture in a second
At the Magic Garden, a rose garden is being designed as shown. The outer figure is a square with side length of 116 feet. a. What is the diameter of one circle? Explain how you find the diameter. b. The roses are to be planted in the four circles. The rest of the space will be covered by wood chips. What is the area of the surface that will be covered by wood chips? Explain how you find this area.
thats the only picture they gave me to go off of
it's half the side of the rectangle
Let the side of the rectangle be a: So Area of the rectangle = a^2
I mean square lol
a = sqrt(116) = 10.7 do u mean 16 btw? it's an ugly number
nope, i copied it straight from the text i had
ok So a = 10.7
the text might have a typo.. if the answer doesnt work out right, then we'll assume a = 4
so then 10.7^2?
k
Area of all circles is 4 * pi* (10.7^2)
or actually 10.7^2 was already given to be 116 lol that's how i actually got 10.7 So: Area of all circles is: 4*116pi
ok so then i add the area of all circles together then subtract it from the area of the square?
yea diameter of one circle is (1/2)a = 10.7/2
thank you!!!!
@Bahrom y didn't u do it like this a diameter =1/2 of the square's side and tht's all.....u get 10.7/2
sorry 116/2 cause i thought the area was 116
We are given that the side of square is 116 feet twice the diameter the circle= side of square Diameter of one circle= 116/2=58 feet radius = 29 feet
and how do i find the area of the square?
now area of 4 circles , which is covered by roses Area of one circle \[A= \pi*59^2\] Area=2642.07 feet^2 Area covered with roses= 4*2642.07 feet^2=10568.31 feet^2 Area covered with wood= (area of square-area of 4 circles)=116^2-10568.31 feet^2=2887.68 feet^2
