is it possible to make it so that www addresses link the same way http:// addresses would? www is easier to type, even though it's not universal. Even better, anything the has a .whatever in it could be automatically linked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example: http://tropicalteachers.com is a link and www.tropicalteachers.com is not, whereas it seems they both should be, as should tropicalteachers.com I find people have trouble getting the :// right, since the characters are not the kind people type a lot.

i never type http:// modern web browsers add it automatically

Good suggestion, I'll pass it on!

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

All right, all right, we'll have a look ;) Our regex could probably be tweaked a bit to provide for that. Just need to watch out for false positives and such.

Tomas.A - i'm talking about within the forums here, not in a browser. It's just easier all around when web addresses and links are clickable. It's not the end of the world if they are not, but so far i've been very impressed with the pace of updates on this site, so why not make it as good as we can (kudos to @shadowfiend).

And while we're at it, why not have the @ link to profiles, and # for subjects, since those have become standards across social media networks. If I want to give #kudos to @shadowfiend it would link to his profile or all other kudos.
