I have to create a music website ..so how do i get all the songs database and from where? Do I need to pay for copyright or the companies pay to the website creator ? please help !

So there are a looot of gotchas here, and I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a lawyer and that this isn't legal advice. Here we go: -If this is for a class project, I would just use samples/clips from the songs (not the whole song) or simply use CC-licensed (or similar) works. Ask your teacher and/or departmental legal counsel if this would fall under their definition of "fair use." I know some students who just assume fair use and then are surprised when their institutors get angry at them. -As far as technique goes, you could simply put the songs on a filesystem and index them in a database. Use the DB to search, then have the Web server serve them up. If you're streaming the songs, this could get a little more complicated. What other concerns do you have?

I want to depoly my website and this will be my first one .So I heard that the companis pay minimum amout to the site holder if they like their site or concept .I want the database of all the songs for my website (max possible at the worst).Or at least all popular hit songs .
