can someone help me with this limit (x^3+2x^2-8x-16)div(x +2) as x approaches -2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the top factors out with an (x+2) you get a hole that can be filled

OpenStudy (amistre64):

otherwise it goes off into infinity

OpenStudy (amistre64):

see if the top goes to zero when x=-2 :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

looks to be a factor so take derivative of top since derivative of bottom = 1 and solve for x=-2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

also known as the Lhop

OpenStudy (amistre64):

with any luck, ash can verify this :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool thanks lets hope ash can verify this for us lol
