help with equations ....assume that there is a rectangular yard ( L& W in meters) and there is a rectangular house which has to be placed in this yard ( L& W in meters) . how can i compute the time (in minutes) required to cut the lawn around the trees. (assume that the mowing rate is in square meters per minutes)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Since the dimensions of the yard and the house are the same, there will be no yard to cut.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no they are not the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is a code problem for computer science

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It says in your problem that they both have dimensions L and W so according to you they are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So Area of the yard > Area of the house => Cutting area = area of yard - area of house

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i mean that the dimensions L and W are in meters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what about the equation of the time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t = Area/ velocity because v unit as you said m^2/min

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok got it thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In case they ask for second, then min * 60 = t sec.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks
