(3-2i)(4-2i)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any ideas? there are two ways to do this. one is just to multiply out and when you get \[i^2\] replace it by -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the other is to know that \[(a+bi)(c+di)=(ac-bc)+(ad+bc)i\] and go directly to the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be 12-14i+4(-1) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8-14i ?

OpenStudy (radar):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3-2i)(4-2i) = 12 - 14i +4i^2 = 8 - 14i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! which way did you use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8-14 i thanks for your help!!
