Why are some countries rich and others poor? Historically, what factors contributed to that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some countries are rich because they have more resources or more influence over countries that have a lot of resources. For example, during the British Industrial revolution they used up all of their resources and so looked somewhere else to satisfy their needs. Therefore, establishing colonies in Africa, Australia and other places throughout the Pacific. Basically, the poor countries today are poor because they were exploited years ago and are still under the influence of bigger corporations that sell to the United States.

cause of many things ! like natural resources, weather condition to farm, geographical condition, trade and business, population, international communications, people creativity, education methods, ext. All of these and many other things can influence on countries financial resources.

I think it also has to do with the fundamental belief system and ideology of a given society, at any distinct and significant point in their history. Such systems of social order and control have a tendency to either oppress or motivate, and the outcome of which can drastically modify an entire people and their future.
