Wheras mammals and birds regulate their internal body temperature within a narrow range around a set point, certain other vertebrates regulate over a broader range. What is meant by the terms "broader" and "narrow" in this context?

OpenStudy (blues):

The actual quantitative interpretation is subjective. I personally would define "narrow" to be less than +/- 2.0 degrees C and "broad" to be +/- more than 2.0 degrees C. For whatever my five cents is worth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here, "narrow" range refers to a close range which is not so wide. On the contrary, "broader" range refers to a wide range. It is because mammals and birds are warm-blooded animals, whereas other vertebrates are cold-blooded animals.
