Synthetic division: (x^4-y^4)/(x-y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I use y as the divisor and treat y^4 as the constant like this y| 1 0 0 0 -y^4 y y^2 y^3 y^4 1 y y^2 y^3 | 0 Q(x)=x^3+yx^2+xy^2+y^3

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I'm going to say 'yes' since that makes sense and gives the correct answer, but I've never done synthetic division like this before!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, me neither. but if it works i guess it'll do lol
