24 + 3t^3 - 9t^2 - 8t factoring.
First step in Factoring: Check for a GCF Is there one here?
i don't think so?
I would always rearrange factoring problems in a decending order: 3t^3 -9t^2 - 8t + 24
Yes, you are correct: There is no GCF
U can also divide using synthetic division method.
Since there are 4 terms, we can use factoring by grouping: (3t^3 - 9t^2) (-8t + 24)
Now, find the GCF of each of the two expressions in the parathesis.
Take 3 outside and proceed. u should get as what Katrina said.
3 and 8.
Good.
Yeah.
Taking the GCF of the first one: 3t^2 (t - 3) 8 (t -3)
As you see, the expressions inside the parathesis are the same. They must alwasy remain the same.
therefore the answer would be (t-3)(3t^2-8)
It would be positive 8, not negative
U r right, Katrina. Selma, I would advise u to follow Katrina's steps in detail.
or can you go further with the factoring?
Beg my pardon. 3t^2 + 8
No; that is the conclusion of factoring by groping
Correct!!!!!!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!
Why is it positive 8?
Because of sign change.
This was what we concluded: 3t^2 (t - 3) 8 (t -3) It woudl be 3t^2 + 8, because there is no substraction sign in front of the 8 when we had factored it
Oh, okay. I understand.
A medal would be appreciated :-)
Okay, thanks so much. :)
24 + 3t^3 - 9t^2 - 8t 3t^3 - 9t^2 - 8t + 24 3t^2 ( t - 3) -8 (t -3) (t -3) ( 3t^2 -8)
No Problem; Danke for the medal.
Wait, so that means there is a negative?
