Typically, when we are writing out systems of equations as matrices, we can use different methods to get it into Row-Echelon form. At that point, we only need to use a little algebra to find the solutions to the system, or we can bring it down further into Reduced-Row-Echelon form to get the solutions. (Not sure if I quite answered the question...)
