what did the wig party stand for and believe in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Depends on which party, British or American?

american

American Whig party was created as a reaction to President Andrew Jackson's "tyrannic" acts. They didn't like the radical changes made to the National Bank of the United States and believed that the country needed a stronger federal action when dealing with national problems. They were the first Republicans as the party eventually evaporated in years to come. They were a short lived party and were Anti-Mason. They are today's Liberals in a sense. Except after the Civil War the two party's ideology changed, almost polar.
