what is the equation for this: two positively charged particles with respective charges of 0.02 and 0.05C are placed 2cm apart. what is the intensity of the electricalforce each particle exerts on the other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[F = k_o {q_1 q_2 \over r^2}\] The force each exerts on each other will be equal to the above force.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does k stand for? also what is force measured in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The wording of this question is a bit odd in the sense that it uses the word "imtensity" instead of the word magnitude. Other than that I agree with the above solution but I would elvaluate the equation using the values given in the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is what i did.! i know those darn text book questions :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k is a constant. It is equal to 8.987551773681764 x 10^9 N m^2/C^2. The force has units newtons if you use the above value for k.

perfect.
