please help!!! how to divide (6x^3+11x^2-4x-4) by (3x-2) ??

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

do you know how to use long division?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I do, but dividing polynomials confuses me :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And whenever I am trying to long divide it out it ends up having to be in a fraction or decimal, which it can't be, I just don't get how to do this problem

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

2x^2 ----------------------- 3x - 2 ) 6x^3 + 11x^2 - 4x - 4 first divide 6x^3 by 3x to give 2 x^2 6x^3 - 4x^2 multipy 3x-2 by 2x^2 to get 6x^3-4x^2 -------------- 15x^2 - 4x subtract and bring down - 4x now divide 15x^2 by 3x and continue as above

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

you should get an answer 2x^2 + 5x + 2

thankyou
