if you were to solve the following systems by substitution, what would be the best variable to solve for and from what equation? explain how please!! 2x+6y=9 3x-12y=15 a) y in the first b) x in the second c) x in the first d) y in the second

OpenStudy (precal):

mulitply the first one by 2 and then solve for x

OpenStudy (precal):

I meant multiply

Directrix (directrix):

b) x in the second 3x-12y=15 The coefficient of x (3) will divide that of -12 and then also divide 15. When you solve for x in equation two, there will be no fractions.

OpenStudy (precal):

Actually it really doesn't matter. I wonder if this is a computer generated question or if the teacher was trying to do an open-ended question to determine if the students understand the process.
