If the area of the following figure is 46 square centimeters, what is the height of the trapezoid? (drawing picture)

OpenStudy (rogue):

\[A_{trapezoid} = \frac {1}{2} h (b_1 + b_2)\]

OpenStudy (rogue):

\[46 = \frac {1}{2} h (8 + 15)\] Now solve for h.

How do I solve that D: ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, i'm really dumb when it comes to math :/ That's why i'm here for help I:

OpenStudy (rogue):

\[46 = \frac {1}{2} h (8 + 15)\]\[46 = \frac {1}{2} * 23h\]\[46 = \frac {23}{2} h \]\[46 = 11.5 h\]Divide both sides by 11.5 to isolate the h.\[\frac {46}{11.5} = \frac {11.5}{11.5} h\]\[4 cm = h\]

Thank you so much :]
