Factor 2m2 + 27m + 70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What two numbers multiplied together gives you 140, and also adds together to 27?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea, D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ill give you a hint, one of the numbers is 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 and 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah so we decompose the middle term to get 2m^2 +20m +7m + 70 Do you what to do from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. :/ hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2m+7)(m+10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ill take out 2m from the first two terms to get 2m(m+10) + 7m + 70 And i'll take out 7 from the last two terms 2m(m+10) + 7(m+10) Then you factor out the m+10, and you get what mad scientist got =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ awwwh I'm sorry.. I sorta didn't see what you were going for, until after I posted.. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay madscientist. thanks niker.
