A tuition scale for a state university shows an increase of $1,500 each year. Part 1: If the initial cost was $23,000, what will the cost of tuition be in twenty five years? (5 points) Part 2: In complete sentences, explain how an arithmetic sequence was applied. (4 points)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

1) 23,000 + 1,500*25 2) No idea how to explain that in sentences (sorry)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

hi

OpenStudy (istim):

I'll help with bahrom. 1) 23,000 + 1,500t*25- IS there a t there??? 2)23 000 is the initial value. 1 500 is the variable by which the value increases by. 25 is the time, in years, so it is the exponent.

OpenStudy (istim):

That good? It sounded right in my head.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

dont u just add a 1500 every year? i might be wrong though..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi luis how are you

OpenStudy (istim):

Where does the variable come in? Cause you didn't include a word somewhere in your equation. There's always that word...

OpenStudy (istim):

Oh.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

t = 25, they asked for tuition at 25 years..

OpenStudy (istim):

The time is the variable, isn't it.

OpenStudy (istim):

ARGH. TOO FAST BAHROM.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

This was my equation: Final = initial + amount*time

OpenStudy (istim):

Yeah. I figured it out as I was typing...

thanks so much!
