True or False f(x)=-2x-9 is f^1(x) = - x + 9 -------- 2

OpenStudy (ash2326):

We have \[ f(x)=-2x-9)\] We have to find \(f^{-1} (x)\) Let's substitute \(x=f^{-1} (x)\) We'll get \[f(f^{-1} (x))=-2f^{-1} (x)-9\] We know that \[ f(f^{-1} (x))=x\] so \[x=-2f^{-1} (x) -9\] or \[f^{-1} (x)= -\frac{x+9}{2}\] Hence true
