Do you mean St. Petersburg? One thing that happened to St. Petersburg was that it was renamed Leningrad in 1924 in commemoration of Vladimir Lenin. The October Revolution that would bring about the Soviet Union started there. Vladimir Lenin is considered by many to be the "father" of the Revolution.
