Priya is raising money for a charity by selling tomato plants that she has grown from seeds. She sells 48 tomato plants for £1.35 each. Priya keeps 15% of the money she gets to pay for the growbags and seeds that she used. She sends the rest of the money to the charity. How much money did she send to the charity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, tell Priya that's a horrible way of making money, and that she should invest in non-agricultural markets in the US. (1-0.15)(48)(1.35) gives you the amount of money she sent to charity.

will u show mee working our properly plase and tell me answer to that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15% is just a common way of writing what is mathematically 0.15, so we got that. If Priya is keeping 0.15, she's sending away 1-0.15=0.85, where the 1 is 100%. So we got our (1-0.15). Now she sells 48 plants at 1.35 each, which means our total gain will be 48(1.35). Since she'll be sending (1-0.15) of her total gain away, multiply that with the total gain. (1-0.15)(48)(1.35), voila!

so whats the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...I'm helping you understand this stuff, not helping you do homework. Seriously, you can do the rest with a calculator even. I've already pretty much given you an answer. >:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just answer it plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ill give u medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's so hard about multiplying (1-0.15)(48)(1.35) this out? You can just copy paste this into Google and it'll answer it for you. >:( Seriously now.
