To avoid possible electrical shock, unplug your computer before inserting the wireless card. Which is a likely consequence of trying to insert the wireless card while the computer is plugged in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. The computer could short out. B. The computer will need to be restarted. C. The wireless card could be ruined. D. You could receive an electrical shock.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C maybe.

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

I'm voting C or D. I'm not brave enough to try it for myself. lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, D depends on the way you hold the wireless card :P

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

Or on how much bad karma you've saved up.

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

Depends on the unit you are plugging the card into. Laptops usually have a port on the side or back for external cards which can accept a wifi card while powered on with no ill effects, but I would not do this with an internal component.

I've shorted a number of devices. Not fun. I think if you're reading the question without any outside knowledge, D would be the best choice. Although the other options make sense, only D is actually mentioned in the question. It makes questions trickier, I think, when you know more than they are telling you. But if this were on, say, the SAT, I'd go with D. Assume you know nothing. In the real world, have someone else put in the wireless card and cross your fingers.

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

Yes. I agree. This question was posted in another group and I replied that the anser is D according to the context of the question.
