Can anyone explain what F1 generation and F2 generation are?

F stands for "filial". F1 is the first generation of progeny obtained by pure breeding. They posses dominant genes of parents (Mendel's law of dominance). F2 is the progeny obtained from cross breeding of the F1 generation (law of segregation and independent assortment).
