Describe one advantage and one disadvantage to antibiotic use.

Advantage: It helps us to fight bacterial infection, and cures us.
Disadvantage: It is unable to counter-attack viral infections.

I agree with Aadarsh about the advantages. But I don't see what effect antibiotic use has on the ability to fight viral infections.

A more common disadvantage would be that the antibiotics kill other, beneficial bateria in our bodies (i.e., the so called 'macrobiome' in the gastrointestinal tract). Which is why long term use of antibiotics leads, shall we say, GI dysfunction and, in extreme cases, malnutrition.
