-6, -2/5, 0, 0.5,7.7, sq rt of 5 and sq rt of 36 List the Natural Numbers,Whole Numbers,Intergers, Rational Numbers,Irrational Numbers, and Real Numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

irrational are all the square rooted numbers. real numbers are all the whole numbers rational numbers are all numbers that are not decimals or square roots :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I forgot some of them xD whole numbers exclude all decimals and square rooted numbers as well. Natural numbers are all whole numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so Irrational would be sq rt of 5 and 36 rational number -6,-2/5, 0 Whole numbers -6,0 Natural numbers -6,0 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2/5 is irrational

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and would sq root of 36 be a whole number because if you take the root it would be 6?

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

whole numbers / natural numbers are only positive as well (whole numbers include 0) Integers are the set of all whole numbers and their opposites (negatives)

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Yes, sq root of 36 is a whole number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would -6 still be said a whole number

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

The sets of numbers: Natural: The set of the 'purest' numbers. {1, 2, 3, ... } Whole: The set of all natural numbers and including 0. {0, 1, 2, 3, ...} Integers: The set of all natural numbers, their opposites, and zero. {... -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...} Rational: All numbers that may be expressed in the form A/B, where A and B are integers. Irrational: All numbers that cannot be expressed in the form A/B. (nonterminating decimals, square roots of numbers that are not perfect squares, etc.) Real: The set of all rational and irrational numbers together. |dw:1330052959145:dw| -6 is in the integers group. It is not a whole number or a natural number.
