U may consider the re-arrangement of periodic table in the form of a circular or oval form.

Reodrering the periodic table is not necessarily a purely scientific quest. The baking soda odor neutralizer angle however, requires a decent amount of experimentantion. As far as the chemistry components, I would enquire with your instructor.
