Life sometimes doesn't make sense. I feel your pain.

cylinder ...R=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya but how did you get that its supposed to be a cylinder and how did you get the radius... it makes no sense to me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cylinder of radius 2 and length 4. Surface area; rectangular projection of the product of circumference and legnth, or 2πrL; top and bottom, 2 circles of πr^2, thus (2πr^2+2πrL) gives you your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone draw me a picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here, kas, take a pencil and rotate it about the tip. Despite being a line, it forms a circle in rotation. Imagine the same thing, except this time with a plane and a cylinder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try this experiment ... take a piece of paper and make a flag ...glue the paper to a pencil or some wire .... rotate the pencil very fast and try to visualize your problem ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nooooo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

too confusing !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya im sorry im just confused

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Think of a book with lots of pages. Put the back cover against the front cover and spread out the pages. Don't you have kind of a cylinder shape?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And the radius is the width of a page.
