What is the meaning of "draw a figure"?

It depends on the context, I think.

"Draw a figure representing the process of distillation."
That would mean you'd have to draw the process, including the flask, the heater, all the apparatus. Sometimes, it also means you'd have to draw a chart.

"Figure drawing" is usually used during arts, and it means drawing a human body.
