dual nature says that electron behaves like waves....we have learned that electron travel around the nucleus..? How can we picturise that motion...is we consider that as a transverse motion does electron moves in a wave form along the direction of propagation.....in transverse wave object doesnt move but it just moves up and down perpendicular to teh direction of propagation......so electron moves along the direction of propagation in wave form...?????!!!!

i too have the same doubt and even after searching net i could not find the answer, however i feel that i can answer your doubt by considering electron as a wave and not as a particle. |dw:1330326235796:dw| in the diagram, the wave encircling the nucleus (N) is actually an electron and this electron doesnt move but behaves like a standing wave with wavelength lambda....... like that of a guitar string...... actually all particles are wave (standing waves) but we dont see them like wave because for macroscopic particles the ""de broglie wavelength"" is too small......... also by my theory i believe it is possible to explain electrons dont lose energy.........because they simply dont move!!!!!!!!!!! .... also i think it is because of that electron being a standing wave on getting a photon moves up by one level....(constructive interference)....................... friend...... i m too a student and dont actually know if my imagination of electron is true......... i will suggest you to kindly ask some elder for conformation and then please let me also know this......... regards, kunal
