The "trick" to seeing the pattern is to put all the fractions over a common denominator (57 in this case). Just listing the numerators we have: 48, 40, 32, 24,... If it doesn't leap out at you, try taking differences 48-40, 40-32, 32-24 --> 8,8,8 so expect the next number to be 24-8= 16 put 16 over the denominator 57 to get 16/57
