Why is 'gel electrophoresis' important for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing in criminal cases?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Read about what the gel electrophoresis actually does. It seperates the DNA in "bonds" (I dont know the English word) and for each DNA it is unique, so if you have found some DNA from a crime scene and you have a suspect you make an electrophorsis of each of the DNA and compare what appears.
