The side RS of a quadrilateral PQRS is drawn on a grid as shown. If quadrilateral PQRS is a square, which of these ordered pair could be a vertex?

Well, you didn't list any choices but here are the possibilities: (9,1) (1,4) (-1,0) (7,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7, 4) (7, 5) (8, 4) (8, 5)

so i guess it's 7,4. How did you find this out?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I know that the sides of a square are perpendicular. The slope of the given side is -2 so the slope of the perpendiculars must be 1/2. Also the lengths of the sides must be equal. So I applied the slope 1/2 to the given points twice in each direction to arrive at the possibilities.
