what is (1/2)x=32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x/1)(1/2) = 32 x(1)/(2)(1) = 32 x/2 = 32 (x/2)*2 = 32*2 x = 64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anything you do not understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i think i wrote the problem wring i think it suppose to be (1/2)^x=32

OpenStudy (rulnick):

x log (1/2) = log32 x = log32 / log(1/2) = -5

OpenStudy (rulnick):

... or just (1/2)^x = 32 implies 2^x = 1/32, so x = -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that is also easy, xlog(1/2) = log(32) x = log(32)/log(1/2) x = -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=64
