Which of the following is the slope between the points (-6, 0)and (2, -9)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain how i can find the slope between it please ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

difference of the y co-ordinates to the difference of the x co-ordinates 0-(-9)/-6-2

Slope also known as gradient can be found with the following formula, Given 2 points, (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) \[\frac{y1-y2}{x1-x2} or \frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find x i should plug in 0 for y ? & the opposite to find y ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is delta y over delta x. so you subtract one y co-ordinate from the other and do the same for the x. The difference in y is placed over the x. Be sure you are subtracting in the correct order! For example: (0 - 9)/(- 6- 2) is correct (-9 - 0)/(-6 - 2) is not
