Would very much appreciate help/advice, thanks :) I need to explain the following term in one or two sentences. Be sure to identify its significance in this course (Government Class)... -Sovereignty: (I put the following sentence as the first part of the explanation, but am having trouble with how its signifigant to government class) Sovereignty is one of the the four characteristics of a state, and it very important because a state with sovereignty has complete authority within its territory and can't be subjected to outside powers.
thats a good explanation. Sovereignty itself varies by who is the Sovereign (ie: the people, the nobles, the military, the king).
Another way to see sovereignty is in what rights are vested in states versus that of the national government in a federal system, like the United States. Though the federal government has sovereign rights over the administration of the nation as a whole, the states still have a number of sovereign rights of their own in keeping with the United States' idea of checks and balances.
thanks, totally awesome answer =D
