The triangles are similar. Lengths of corresponding segment lengths are in proportion. BC is to EF as 26 is to 16 BC/EF = 26?16 (2x+5)/(x+9) = 26/16 (2x+5)/(x+9) = 13/8 8(2x+5) = 13(x+9) 3x = 77 x = 77/3
