f(x)=x^2+3; g(x)=x+4 find (fog)(-2)

sam (.sam.):

fg(-2) f(x+4) f(-2+4) f(2) x^2+3 (2)^2+3 4+3 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which answer would it be; 2,7,39,-7 this one really confused me:)

sam (.sam.):

7

OpenStudy (chriss):

f o g means f(g(x)) That means that you have to solve g(x) first then put that answer into f(x) so your question was f o g(-2) or f(g(-2)) so first you plug -2 into g(x) x+4 -2+4 2 So you get an answer of 2 which you then plug into f(x) \[x^{2}+3\] \[2^{2}+3\] 4+3 7 So your answer is 7.
