help with integration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to know how the integral of sin(x)cos(x) equals to 0.5sin^2(x) ?

OpenStudy (agreene):

let u = sin x du = cos x dx int u du = .5 u^2 +C substitute back for u .5 sin^2 x + C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can't we solve it immediatly by considering sinx cosx is 0.5sin(2x) ?

OpenStudy (agreene):

*shru* if there's an identity for it, im horrible at trig so I dont know all the identities and things.

OpenStudy (agreene):

*shrug* is what i meant, lol
