When have you had good experiences with email? Why -- what were the circumstances surrounding the communication, what went right, how might it have been more difficult in person (or over the phone) or how might things have played out differently in person (or over the phone)?

When have you had bad experiences? That is, when have things gone wrong, when have there been misunderstandings or other complications? Why do you think things went wrong? In what way did the fact that the communication was through email affect the way things played out?
