A rectangular garden has a rectangular walkway around it. The width of the walkway is 8 ft. How many feet greater than the perimeter of the garden is the outside perimeter of the walkway?

OpenStudy (rulnick):

Width is 16 ft greater. Length is 16 ft. greater. So perimeter (2l+2w) is 64 ft greater.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 ft width of walkway increase in width = 16 so the length = 16 so the goal increas in the perimeter = 2*(16+16) = 64 ft.
